Econet wireless says its parent company will invest a Ksh 33.5 billion in Kenya during its first two years of operation. Chief Executive Michael Foley said the operator may launch sooner than the November date after it received an extension from the Communications Commission of Kenya. The firm won the bid for the country's third mobile operator in 2003 and says it is gearing to shake up the local telecommunications market.
