Some 50 delegates representing the Catholic Church in the United States traveled to Ecuador in August 2008 to participate in the third Missionary Congress for the Americas or CAM 3. This delegation was led by Monsignor John E. Kozar, national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. CAM was designed to create awareness in the local Churches of America about the imminent significance of Pentecost so that from the experience of discipleship they are in a state of "missionary readiness" to promote the New Evangelization and the mission Ad Gentes.
